How to Plan a Kitchen Party in Zambia
A kitchen party is a joyful celebration of the bride-to-be. Planning early keeps it relaxed. Here is a simple guide.

1. Set the date and the committee
Choose a date that avoids clashes with the wedding programme, then form a small committee with clear jobs: budget, invitations, programme, food and décor. Share tasks early so no one is overloaded.
2. Fix the guest list and budget
Agree on the number of guests with the bride's family first. Then set a budget and track it in one place. Guest numbers decide the venue, seating and catering.
3. Choose the venue
A home, hall or lodge can all work. Check space, shade, power, parking and toilets. Visit the venue with your décor planner so they can plan the set-up.
4. Plan the programme
A typical programme includes a welcome, prayer, music, advice from elders, games, gift opening, food and photos. Appoint an MC who knows the family and keep the timings flexible.
5. Style the venue
Pick the bride's colours and choose a focal point: a balloon arch, a backdrop for photos and flower centrepieces. See our kitchen party décor. Book at least a week ahead for large set-ups.
6. Gifts and thank-yous
Add a gift for the bride, her mother and the bridal team: flowers, chocolates, a hamper or a wine gift bag. We deliver across Zambia.
